July 27, Thursday
Josh came late Wednesday night with the camp stake-bed truck and we spent much of the morning packing up Lisa's belongings into the truck. It was hot in the sun, and tiring work loading up all of that heavy stuff, but we got a lot in- more than half of her apartment. We went out to eat, again, and then when we got home we found that my Grandma had come to vacation with us.
One of Bowden's favorite things to do when in Oxnard is to go down to the dock and climb on my Uncle Beany's sailboat. We made a family activity out of it.
Many, many card games followed.

I missed it, but I hope it's still valid to say:
Happy Birthday, Lucy Gates!!
hullo, dear mrs. tate.
I am thinking of you because it's 10:35 p.m., and I am in (or should be in) the kitchen canning pounds of kosher dills. (I don't always think of you at night, but when I'm making midnight pickles, I do.) I idiotically burned all the fingers on my left hand, too.
These pictures make me feel cool and clean.
I am glad to see beautiful you and your beautiful family again. I wish California was just a skip from Campville. I'd invite you over right now to munch.
Lucy at the helm- no wonder we didn't get far!
It was sure beautiful there!
