The all-church picnic here in Idyllwild is a summers-end staple up on the hill. Five different Christian churches get together and have a group baptism and picnic, and it just happens to happen at Camp Maranatha, pretty much in my front yard.
Lucy decided that she belonged in this low, purple, folding chair, and did not care that Mr. Hoetger did not seem to enjoy her there at all. We called to her, but the only thing that really made her want to leave her chair was some watermelon and doritos.
Bowden sat down for maybe two minutes all together, but that is a generous estimate.

I loved how Lucy owned that chair. And I love how she's leaning over to the blank man.
But really, he was not that bad.

i don't understand how he had the willpower to resist her.
stony-faced man is that way because he's using all his strength to keep from squeezing her cheeks.

she is adorable, and these pictures made me laugh.

Forgot to say in my post how much Grandfather Tate would have revelled in these blogs. In my mind I can imagine him reading them and when the pictures come up he would have called to grandma - "Velma, you've come look at these!" with such enthusiasm. He would have had such chuckles. I imagine he would have had his own blog but for sure - he would have had some great "comments."

I have to agree with Abby. I was just about to say "How in the world could he resist". She looks like she's trying very hard to win his heart, but in reality, I know she wouldn't have to try so hard.

And hooray for Bo-do's descending teeth!!
