One of the reasons the fires were so bad was the wind- the 'Santa Anas.' Up in Idyllwild we had a lot of trees fall down and a mountain's worth of pine needles. We went to a friend's house to help rake, and the kids got a ride.
Pine needle rides are like hay rides...
...only more painful.
The kids still didn't want to get out.

Ouch.

I discovered how needle-like those giant needles are after the girls upended the box Josh sent. Everytime I sat on one, I yelped, but these two look happy!
