We went on an especially warm Idyllwild day down to Strawberry Creek to play...it was an impromptu trip, and I wasn't going to let the kids in the water, but eventually the water called to us all. We took off our shoes and socks, and Lucy's pants, and waded to Josh's and my hearts' content. The chilluns could have played forever.
The above shot is pre-shoe-shedding, under the bridge.
Still under the bridge, not yet in the deeper stream bed.
Lucy loved it.
Finally in!
Keep your pants dry...oh, too late.
The water started clear, but the soft and mucky bottom quickly made it murky.
Bowden, also, loved it.
Bowden sat down and wanted Josh to come and visit. I stuck by Lucy's side.
She basically sat on every rock she could, and some she couldn't.
They had an important conversation, but I'm sure about what.
Probably Bowden's super-powers.
The mud was very soft and slimy and Lucy liked the feel of it in her toes.
I mostly had to watch that they didn't drink the water, as Lucy is wont to do just about anytime she's near any liquid. It was a lovely day, and a very nice soak.

What a great memory. I'm so glad that you know how to enjoy and let your kids enjoy those kinds of adventures!
Hooray for muddy fun and climbing rocks!
I love those two of Josh and Bowden talking.
Most especially, I do.
i think lucy's the prettiest mermaid i've ever seen. or is she the cutest salamander ever?
definitely a salamander. she's a little slimy sometimes, but then, mermaids probably are, too.
