Oh, baby girl.
Lucy turned two on the twenty-eighth. We set the table with Grandma and Grandpa Tate's presents...and some baubles and things. It was a dress-up and drink tea kind of birthday, and Lucy was excited. She said, "Mah birthday come up!" The table before the kidlins got to it.

You know it's your birthday when you get fruit loops for breakfast.

Brothers get fruit loops, too.
A pretty tutu and flower wreath for Lucy.
Grandma and Grandpa Tate's other gift- Milly-Molly Mandy. Lucy carried her around all day.

Bowden attempts to land the wreath...unsuccessfully.
We bought this wading pool as a gift for Bella Irving, but there was no place for it, so we gave her something else, and Lucy had a pool party with the visiting Ethan Richard and Bowby.
The little squirters made for a nice drinking fountain.
Later we had a tea-party with the staff.
Oh, yes, I made scones and tiny cucumber sandwiches.

Lucy loved opening her gifts, but I don't think she knew what they were until we took them inside.
One of her favorites was the bugcatching gear from Sherry and Meghan Christiansen (who always know what the right gift is.)
And of course, cake. I actually "made" a box cake in little bundt pans, but in the rush of the moment, forgot to grease the pans. The delicious little things were made with a whole stick of butter and shaved dark chocolate, but were useless. Lisa ran down to the camp kitchen and got me a little chocolate bundt cake we keep in the freezer for camper's birthdays...
...which was excellent, because Lucy love chocolate. I stuck a little paper parasol and two candles in it, and she kept blowing on the parasol. Only Lucy got cake, which may be why Bowden looks the way he does in the background.
Lucy got a myriad of pretty clothes, which may become blog-fodder and clog up my posts. Some of the staff girls got her pesents, too- most notably a big box of crayons and a jar of blue hand-made play-doh with plastic sea-creatures. And the Shirley's got her books...she is a very happy little girl with books.

Lucy's party looks fabulous!
poor, poor Bowden, though - NO CAKE?! That chocolate looks so yummy!

Another sign of my age - I was struck with the mention of gifts from Grandma and Grandpa Tate until I realized that was my brother and his wife, not my mom and dad. Looks like a grand party and thank goodness for the cake rescue! Camp Maranatha - what a wonderful place to grow up.

OK - Bowden's expression in the background of that one picture is just hilarious.

I love how all of your posts tell such great stories.

Absolutely adorable!!!

Isn't it fun to get to do the really girly stuff and the really boyish stuff too? I also love how our girls can be little princesses one second, then be covered head to toe in mud the next. My little princesses are catching tiny sugar ants in my bathroom right now, carrying them to the front yard, and setting them free. My boy would scream at the thought of touching a bug.

Great pictures, Happy Birthday Lucy!!! :)

Okay, you're crazy and you throw the best parties ever. Too bad you're not on this side so that I could hire you for Millie's birthday next week.

On top of that, Lucy's becoming quite a beauty. (She's always been baby-beautiful, but now she's looking so grown-up!)
